उच्च शिक्षा के प्रसार हेतु राज्य शासन द्वारा इस पिछड़े जिले में 1960 में कला एवं विज्ञान संकाय में ‘शासकीय महाविद्यालय, जगदलपुर के नाम से इसकी स्थापना की गई थी | 1966 में वाणिज्य संकाय का भी समावेश किया गया | 1982 में राज्य शासन ने इसे स्नातकोत्तर महाविद्यालय का दर्जा दिया गया है

- The hostel is for SC / ST, which is run by Tribal Welfare Department. Admission application form will be received from the Superintendent of Tribal Welfare Department, but the employees of Chhattisgarh Government, who are posted in Bastar district, will also be given admission. General Hostel – The government has made provision of building only, the arrangement of other facilities is not a constraint on the college. Note: – Students will be eligible for admission in general hostel for a maximum period of 6 years only.
